Main purpose of job
Responsible to the Principal OD Advisor and Senior OD Advisor for assisting with the delivery of CI projects, products and services to agreed quality, time and budget targets to internal customers. Responsible for providing effective project organisation support for CI systems, processes and documented procedures both digital and manual.
Summary of responsibilities:
- Assist in the management of allocated projects including programming own workload to meet priorities and deadlines and advise lead advisor and senior management of any potential problems in advance.
- Collate and analyse management information, develop reports, research and benchmarking etc to support the delivery of projects or improvement programmes.
- Develop working relationships and effective communication with appropriate stakeholders, including trade union representatives as directed, to ensure effective delivery of allocated work.
- Participate in inter-departmental working groups and improvement teams as directed.
- Contribute to or assist with the preparation of proposals and reports to customers on the range of services provided by the section
- Assist in undertaking job evaluation exercises throughout the awareness, assessment, conciliation and appeal stages and the management of associated records.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of CI systems and processes and compile and maintain project data for project reporting and statistical and record purposes.
- Organise, minute and report on meetings and compile reports and briefings on relevant issues as required.
- Contribute to the objectives and business plan of the section and assist in drawing up work plans for each assigned project as directed by senior management.
- Comply with performance measures and targets within the overall policy framework of the department and section to ensure the delivery of work to specified quality, time, and budget.
- Maintain a high level of awareness of the most up-to-date management developments and make recommendations to senior management.
- Motivate and manage any staff that may be assigned to the post holder to ensure effective service delivery and to be responsible for reviewing and implementing a proper staff training and development programme.
- Participate in all induction and in-service training provided by Belfast City Council and in the induction and support of all newly appointed staff and other human resource management policies and procedures, as appropriate, including, absence management, disciplinary and grievance procedure.
- Participate as directed in the council’s recruitment and selection procedures.
- Act in accordance with the council and departmental policies and procedures including customer care, equal opportunities, health and safety, safeguarding and any pertinent legislation.
- Undertake the duties in such a way as to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of the council.
- Undertake such other relevant duties as may from time to time be required.
Essential Criteria:
Applicants must, as at the closing date for receipt of applications:
- have a relevant third level qualification, for example, Business Studies, Public Administration or equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, at least one years relevant experience in each of the following areas;
or
- be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples on the application form, that they have at least two years relevant experience of working in a customer focused business type environment and have experience in assisting in two of the following three areas:
– Performance improvement and managing change.
– Organisational development and business systems development.
– Project or Programme Management.
